X-Lex™ is a high-performance data compression engine optimized for text, JSON, NDJSON, and system logs. It targets backend and cloud workloads that need strong compression density, bit-exact restore, and an offline-friendly runtime (no phone-home required for pack/unpack).
📦 Product Lineup & Architecture
1. X-Lex™ Core (Base Engine)
Foundation: High-throughput compression and decompression for structured text streams and logs across backend networks and storage systems.
Formats in scope: text, JSON, NDJSON (log-style). XML is supported in published benches.
Bit-exact round-trip: listed workloads restore identically — no lossy mode in the Core path.
Density (measured, Core 20260906): on real NDJSON observations 32 MiB, X-Lex™ packs to 89,909 B — about 3.1× smaller than zstd-3 (281,939 B) and smaller than zstd-9 / gzip-9 / xz-6 in the same table. Ratios depend on data mix; measure on your data.
Licensed Core: removes the OEM 2 MiB cap and enables production multi-thread encode/decode for large streams.
Offline operation: pack/unpack does not require a call home.
2. X-Lex™ Queryable Archive (Enterprise Add-On)
A specialized add-on on top of licensed X-Lex™ Core for high-density log archives that also need field-level access.
Direct field search: targeted lookups from compressed archives without full restore to plain text first.
Requires Core first: install Core → place license.xl1 → then install Queryable. Not for OEM Eval.
Resource-conscious queries: reduces full-file inflate I/O when you only need named fields.
Note: storage density leadership is a Core result. Queryable adds search. Do not advertise Queryable as “7–9× vs zstd” — that old lab JSON claim is withdrawn; use the Core bench table instead.
3. X-Lex™ PDF Archive (Enterprise Add-On)
A specialized module for enterprise document workflows that need secure, long-term PDF archiving beside Core logs/text.
Core ecosystem: installs onto licensed Core (same license.xl1 model). Not for OEM Eval.
Modular: add PDF capability without rewriting the Core pack path.
Deterministic focus: reliable document archive handling with production integrity checks used by the Core stack.
📜 Licensing & Editions
1. X-Lex™ OEM Evaluation Build (Trial Edition)
30-day OEM evaluation package for integration and benchmarking of the core engine.
Package limit: 2 MiB max per call (larger inputs return too large).
Threads: OEM Eval is one thread (product limit).
Watermark: non-production use marking on Eval builds.
Feature scope: core compress/decompress only. Queryable and PDF add-ons are separate and must not be installed onto OEM Eval.
Time limit: 30-day evaluation window (machine-bound Eval clock rules apply).
2. X-Lex™ Full Production License (Commercial / Core Edition)
After PoC, move to licensed Core for production. Customer integration stays on the same C API / CLI surface.
Intended use: commercial deployment.
Unrestricted size: removes the 2 MiB Eval cap; supports large streams (e.g. 32 MiB+ in published benches).
Multi-thread: production encode/decode threading unlocked under license.
License file: host-bound license.xl1 (issued for the target machine).
Add-ons: Queryable and PDF install on Core with the same license family; each add-on is licensed/sold as agreed.
Deliverables: production binaries + technical documentation. Future codecs (e.g. picture/voice) are separate licenses when released.
3. X-Lex™ PDF Archive (Specialized Add-On License)
Intended use: secure ingestion and archiving of PDF documents in the Core ecosystem.
Prerequisite: licensed Core (not OEM Eval).
Distribution: separate add-on entitlement on top of Core.
(Queryable Archive is licensed the same way: Core prerequisite + separate add-on entitlement.)
🔮 Coming Soon on the Roadmap
X-Lex™ Picture & Voice (Coming Soon):
Dedicated add-on workstream for specialized image and audio compression. Separate license when released. Not part of Core / Queryable / PDF SKUs today.
